Have ideas? Skills to share? We're looking for:
-
Ideas for 75-minute open (many-to-many) discussion sessions on issues
related to social and economic justice in South Asia and the diaspora
(e.g. around gender issues, labor, communalism, globalization, etc.).
-
Lectures, video, or slideshow presentations on your area of expertise,
to be followed by a Q&A. Examples: the dynamics of domestic violence
in the South Asian community; the history of communalism in South
Asia; mental health issues facing the South Asian community
-
Volunteers who can coordinate small workshops to share skills
applicable to folks doing different types of social justice
work. Example: media outreach, political lobbying, workshop
facilitation, fundraising, budgeting.
If you have ideas, please send us your
name (or the name of other proposed facilitators), organization (if
applicable), a 3-4 line tentative description of the session, and info
on any special room or equipment needs. Thanks!
Don't forget to register for the
conference!
Note: The bulk of this conference will be using "open space
technology," where attendees can choose the topics to be discussed the
morning of the conference. The organizers may ask you to bring your
topic to the open space forum or combine it with others; we will
provide adequate notice for you to contact your co-facilitators.
